Otaku?

"Otaku (おたく / オタク?) is a Japanese term used to refer to people with obsessive interests, particularly anime, menga and games"

---From Wikipedia-----

However, the words "OTAKU" has another negative meaning in Hong Kong.
In nowadays, if we call a people "otaku",
it means he is lack of communication, not care his face and body....etc
It's strange to see this situration.

Personal pronoun "I"

Do you uderstand the usage of "I" in Japanese?
Refers to my Japanese textbook, they only shoe"わたし"
to explain the meaning of "I" and "me".
However, Japanese people use different personal pronouns to
present the word "I"  in the daily life.
It's because they want to present their social status and personal charactaristics.
Today, I'm going to give you some examples accordind from two interesting comics!!

★Different Personal Pronouns of "I"
Let's take a look of the picture from アニメ.
  • Boy:
  • Girl:あたし
  • Scrapper:おれ
  • Samurai:
  • Old man:わし
  • Butler:
  • Osakan:
★Example FromONE PIECE』(ワンピース)
One Piece is a Japanese famous shōnen manga series
written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda.

Monkey D. Luffy (モンキー・D・ルフィ) and Nami(ナミ)
are two of the main charaters in the story.
☆Luffy uses "俺(おれ)"
Luffy is a very strong and  hot-blooded boy.
He loves  to make an exploration and received challenges.
So, he uses "おれ" to present himself.

☆Nami uses "わたし"
Nami is a beatiful woman in the comics.
Therefore, she uses "わたし" to present herself.

★Example FromGintama』(銀魂
Gintama is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Hideaki Sorachi
 Gintoki Sakata (坂田銀時) uses "俺(おれ)"
In the comics, Gintoki is a Scrapper and his speaking is not vert polite.
So, he uses "おれ"

Kagura (神楽) uses "私(わたし)"
Kagura is a pretty girl in the manga.
However, she uses "わたし" instead of "あたし".
It's because in the story, she always wants to become more ripe.

★Which Personal Pronoun I would Use?
I would like to use "わたし".
Since it is the most common personal pronoun in Japan^^

Hi everyone, nice to meet you again!^^
Now,I'm going to introduce my trip to Fukuoka(福岡市) in the last January,2011!
I went to Fukuoka with my family on 1/1 to6/1.
In this traveling, I experienced the classic and traditional style of Japan!
(p.s. Although 1/1 was the Nes Year Festival of Japan, many shops were closed,
I could enjoy the  special custom and activities in this period ^^)

Do you know about Fukuoka?
Fukuoka (福岡市, Fukuoka-shi) is the capital city of Fukuoka Prefecture (福岡縣)and is situated on the northern shore of the island of Kyūshū (九州)in Japan.

It is the most populous city in Kyūshū, followed by Kitakyūshū(北九州市). It is the largest city and metropolitan area west of Keihanshin(京阪神).
In the following parts, I will introduce the major places which I had visited: Mojiko(門司港)、Dazaifu(太宰府) and Kokura(小倉).

1.Mojiko Retro(門司港)

Mojiko was a international habour during the Meiji period.
In 1889 (Meiji 22), a port of Mojiko was opened its door to the foreign trade through the advanced industrial innovation of Kitakyushu area on that time period.

A lot of national and international trading companies built their office in Mojiko, and its downtown was very busy with visitors all around the world.

Most of buildings have been remains the same till today!!

2.Dazaifu(太宰府)

Since the New Year festival,
there were many people in Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine(太宰府天滿宮), a famous Zen temple !

Dazaifu is a city thirty minutes by train to the southeast of Fukuoka City.About 1300 years ago, the area was the political center of Kyushu!
And, Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is one of Fukuoka's major tourist attractions.Dazaifu is most lively around New Year and in the spring, but remains a strong attraction year-round!!

My souvenir from Dazaifu!!

A famous snacks of Dazaifu--- plum's cake!!

3.Kokura(小倉)

From the photoes, you can see the Kokura Castle(小倉城), in Kokura.
Fukuoka-ken is located in the north side of Kyushu, and will be the arrival point for most visitors to Kyushu whether theycross over by the Kanmon-kyo Bridge, or the tunnel at the
Kanmon strait in Kitakyushu-city, or fly into Fukuoka airport
in Fukuoka-city.

Hello everyone~
In the following pessage, I'm going to introduce the special usage of KATAGANA(かたがな)!

We have a knowledge that Katagana is use for:
1.foreign words and terms,e.g.
2.name of foreign people,e.g. (Michael Jackson)
3.for some special and specific sounds and voise,e.g.ドキドキ(sounds of heart)ブルルルルル...(ringing of telephone)
etc.....
However, in some ways, Katagana can use for highlight the keywords or emphasize the main idea!!
Let's take a look of a song,
a famous R&B singer in Japan!

Baby

Baby

Oh Baby

From the song, we can see the repeated 「アイシテル」(I love you),
this present the main concept on the song.
